Moving and Guest Posting

I have some exciting things going on behind the scenes here on the blog! In the last few months I have been somewhat frustrated with Blogger as my blogging platform. It is an easy program to use, but also quite limited. I really wanted to move to WordPress, but I thought that switching was impossible since it can cost hundreds of dollars to buy hosting, a theme (blog design), my domain name, and having my blog transferred.

But then I found out about a fabulous special from Christina at Embracing Simple where I could buy my domain and hosting for an incredibly discounted price. If you want to start your own blog, you should definitely check out the deal. You can start a WordPress blog with hosting for only $12. I could not pass this deal up!

This week I am working on moving my blog from Blogger to WordPress! I have learned a lot about WordPress in the last few days, thanks to My Theme Shop’s video tutorials. And I was even able to find a free theme that was easily modified.

My next obstacle is transferring my content from Blogger to WordPress. To pay someone to do this would cost me around $300 which I do not want to spend. I am following this tutorial that fully explains every step. I’m hoping to transfer everything by myself and save the $300. Hopefully, you will be able to see the new site by the middle of this week!

Another blog goal that I had for 2016 is to start doing some guest posting. My first guest post was published at Crystal Paine’s blog Money Saving Mom where I shared several places to take young kids for free! I’d love for you to check out my post. While you are there, check out Crystal’s many resources and tips. You could spend a whole afternoon reading on her website!

I read your guest post and was going to congratulate you! I need to do more guest posting, too, but third trimester is catching up with me. You will NOT regret moving to WordPress one little bit! I'm so excited for you…even if it does mean some technical work behinds the scenes for you this week. Good luck, Emily! You can do it!

Thank you for your faith in me, Kristen. So far I am loving WordPress. Yay for being in your third trimester! I hope you are able to get some rest during the end of your pregnancy. Looking forward to “meeting” your little girl this year!

Congrats a million times for being a guest poster on MSM! I was so excited to see that she featured you! I blog from WordPress (and while I'm not an expert) I'm happy to help if you have any questions once you get your blog transferred from Blogger. I love WordPress – hope you do too!

Good luck with the transfer this week!

Thank you, Whitney. Thankfully, transferring was much easier than I thought it would be, and I’m slowly getting the hang of WordPress. I know I will have some questions though, so thank you for offering your help!
