Can you believe we are already a quarter of the way into the year?
In January I shared five of my goals for the year with you. Since we are well into the year, I thought it would be good to share an update.
Last Quarter’s Goals
1. Weekly Date Nights at Home
This did not happen at all in January, February, and part of March since I was so sick. However, we have been doing much better at this the last few weeks.
2. Read More to My Son
This goal has happened, and it has been so much fun! We read before nap time and bed time most days. I’ve been reading longer books to him and usually about 3-4 books each time.
We pick out new books from the library every few weeks, but his favorite right now are two books that I’ve had for a while.
3. Purchase Devotional Books
I’ll be perfectly honest, I spent very little time having devotions during January and February. But I’m currently working through Having a Martha Home the Mary Way* by Sarah Mae.
I didn’t realize it was a devotional when I picked it up from the library. So I haven’t purchased any devotional books yet, but I plan to when I finish this book.
4. Spend Less Time on Chores
Yes! I have accomplished this one. I used to spend close to an hour on chores, now it is anywhere from 15-30 minutes a day. Yay!!
I’m still working on streamlining my grocery shopping, but will share that with you soon. See “How I Spend Less Time Cleaning” here.
5. Make a Solid Part Time Income through Blogging
Well, that has been put on hold, but still not out of the question. This past month I’ve put about 3-4 hours a week into blogging which means I get the bare minimum done.
Last year I put in about 14 hours a week. I have SO many ideas for improving the blog and providing additional income, but just haven’t been able to make the time for my ideas (yet).
The ads on my blog (however annoying they may be) have continued to bring in at least a little income each month. I’m very thankful for that!
This Quarter’s Goals:
1. Teach My Son His Name and #1-10
This year, I started doing mini home school lessons with my son. He has most of his colors and shapes down, so we are moving on to spelling and identifying the letters in his name and counting from 1-10.
He seems really interested in numbers and letters right now. Most of our “lessons” are fun and super simple. In the next couple of months, I hope to share some activities we have been doing.
2. Set up Baby’s Nursery
My office has already been moved out of the baby’s room, and I’ve started collecting decorating ideas. I can’t wait to get it all set up, hopefully before a huge belly gets in the way!
3. Exercise 3x a Week
After having my son, I could not believe how extremely tired I was! Giving birth takes a lot of physical exertion, and I want to be in good physical shape especially since I’ll be 35 when the baby is born.
Now that I’m feeling better, I’ve started getting back into an exercise routine, approved by my doctor of course. I love this YouTube video for easy at home workouts and the strength training exercises in You: Having a Baby*.
Those are the three goals I’m focusing on this quarter. This pregnancy has really worn me out, so I’m being realistic and not adding more than I can do.
How have your goals been going this year? Let me know!
