This week’s post is different from usual. I love sharing practical home management tips with you most of the time, but today I’m giving you a little behind the scenes look at some changes in my life lately so you realize that YES, there is a real person behind this blog. 🙂
Last week my little family of four moved half way across the country from Jacksonville, Florida to Lincoln, Nebraska.
We have wanted to make this move for years, but have always talked ourselves out of it and let fear stop us. However, in February we finally decided to take a huge step of faith and put our house up for sale.
It ended up selling within 4 days!
After that, things were a bit of a whirlwind as we got packed up and prepared to move to a new state.
We decided to fill a POD and have it shipped to Nebraska for us instead of driving a moving truck across the country. This made it a lot easier for us!
My sister-in-law and brother-in-law helped us load the POD and honestly we couldn’t have done it without them! We are SO thankful for their love, support, and help. We attempted to get a group selfie with them, but Little One’s Head got cut out of the picture. Ha!
After we loaded the POD, we hit the road and started our new adventure.
During our trip we stopped off at Branson, Missouri for a little family time and got to Ride the Ducks! It is a land and sea tour of Branson. My Little Man even got to be the captain when we were on water.
After Branson, we headed up to Nebraska. We’ve spent the last week getting settled and familiar with Lincoln. My husband and I even had a date night and got a quick selfie in front of the state capital building.
I actually lived in Nebraska for about 9 years before going to college and then eventually moving to Florida where I met my husband. I’ve lived in 4 different states so I wasn’t too concerned about moving this time.
My husband however has only ever lived in Florida, so moving was a huge step for him. But I think he was more excited and at peace about moving than I was!
Everything with this move has seemed to fall into place. We know we are in the right place emotionally and spiritually and truly believe the verse, Romans 8:28, “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.”
It doesn’t mean everything has been easy. We have had our challenges, and we still have things we need to do here in Nebraska as we settle into a new life.
But we have decided to embrace the Motto, “One step at a time.”
We are taking things day by day instead of looking at ALL the things that have to get done. Little by little we are accomplishing our goals that we set for the year. It has been an incredibly exciting and growing time in our lives as we embrace change and trust God instead of living in fear of the unknowns.
I hope you enjoyed this look at our life and that it encourages you to make the changes you want to see in your life as well. It reminds me of the phrase Ruth Soukup often shares, “Do it scared!” She’s even started a new podcast called Do It Scared that I’m loving!
I’ll keep you updated with our new adventure along the way throughout the year. So make sure you are following along with me on my weekly email newsletter.
