I haven’t always felt like the Queen of my Household.
I’ve been married for 10 and a half years now, and for the first six years of my marriage, taking care of my home felt like a burden.
In fact when I was first married I despised taking care of my home. I often complained and had a terrible attitude.
Then when I quit working to stay home with my son in 2014, I was so overwhelmed and really just felt lost as a homemaker and mom. I felt like I had no purpose.
My days felt mundane and joyless.
I felt this way for longer than I’d like to admit. But one day while at home in my sweat pants, oversized t-shirt, and messy ponytail, I got a glimpse of myself in the mirror, and was horrified at what I saw.
I looked at myself and didn’t recognize who I saw in the mirror.
That day, I looked myself in the eyes and literally said out loud, “Who are you? This has got. to. stop.”
Right then and there I made the decision that I wasn’t going to keep living this way. It was already noon, but I decided to hit restart on my day (and life).
I put on a nice pair of shorts and a cute graphic tee that I always felt good in, and I put on a bit of makeup and teased my ponytail. It probably only took me about 10 minutes to do all of that.
But those 10 minutes of investing in myself made all the difference.
I looked myself in the mirror again, and could not beleive the transformation and all it took was a little bit of time and some intentional action.
Over the next several months, I slowly made changes in how I managed my home and now I can whole heartedly say I love being a homemaker!
Now, I beleive all women who manage and care for their homes and families are homemakers even those who work full time outside the home.
However, teach from the perspective of a stay at home mom or work at home mom, someone who spends most of their time in the home.
Much of what I say benefits any mom or homemaker, for that matter. But my experience is as stay at home mom, and I am passionate about helping stay at home moms find joy in homemaking.
That’s why I created the online course The Motivated Homemaker.
