Maybe you may feel stuck in your clutter and not having an organized home.
You may feel stuck with the way you manage your time and like you can’t ever find the time to care for your self or home.
Maybe you have tried over and over to plan meals, and nothing ever sticks.
What ever it is you may feel like you’ll never get over the hurdle that is keeping your from where you want to be.
You just feel stuck.
When you feel stuck in life.
First, when you feel stuck in life, DON’T GIVE UP.
That probably sounds really simple. But it’s super important.
Most of the time, when you feel like you will never experience change, you simply give up.
One of my favorite quotes is by Michael Hyatt.
He said, “Most people give up before it gets good. Don’t be like most people.”
I came across the quote one day when I was on the verge of quitting my blog. I felt like I was going nowhere and just wanted to quit.
But I didn’t and now I’m able to make a good part time income as a stay at home mom. All because I decided not to quit!
Even as a mom, there have been countless times that I have wanted to quit because I felt stuck. One example that sticks out to me the most is breastfeeding.
Oh how painful and hard it was those first few weeks. I can’t tell you how many times I wanted to just give up. But I didn’t.
I kept going. I took one day at a time and eventually, it got better. By the time both my children turned one year old, I had been able to successfully breastfeed them for an entire year.
Whatever area of your life you are feeling stuck. Your marriage, your organization or clutter, meal planning, parenting….
DON’T GIVE UP.
Second, visualize what your life will look like when you don’t feel stuck anymore.
Where do you want to be?
For example, we had the ugliest looking plant growing on the side of our house, and I was thiiiiiiiiis close to cutting that thing down. I was so tired of looking at the eye sore.
But someone told me to wait just a few weeks more and there would be some big beautiful flowers. So I waited. I watered the plant. And waited some more.
And guess what?!
The plant ended up being a bright pink hibiscus.
It was SO worth the wait.
The same is true for you. When you feel stuck in a home that is disorganized, think about what your home will look like after you organize it.
- Maybe it’s a closet that you hate opening, but you feel like you’ll never be able to get it organized. — Visualize what you want the closet to look like after you organize it.
- Maybe cooking supper feels like a burden and you just don’t feel like making anything. — Visualize what it will look like to feed your family a well prepared meal that will satisfy their hungry tummies.
- Maybe being a stay at home mom has you feeling trapped. — Here are some crucial steps you can take to get out of a bad funk as a stay at home mom.
Third, break the goal down into small steps.
It’s easy to get overwhelmed when you see the big picture and you think about all the many steps it takes to get where we want to be.
It may look like a lot of work to get unstuck.
So instead, ask yourself what is the first step to getting where you want to be.
“What is one thing you could change today, to get you where you want to be?“
Let’s say you want to lose 20 pounds, but it feels like you’ll never do it and you are doomed to feeling stuck at your current weight.
But think about one thing you could do today that would move you in the right direction. Maybe it’s as simple as drinking a glass or ice water instead of a sugary drink.
If your home is a cluttered mess, don’t think about the entire house. Just pick one area that you could organize tonight after the kids go to bed. Maybe it’s under the bathroom sink. Do that one thing.
Just taking the first step will get the ball rolling and give you momentum to accomplish something else.
It doesn’t matter what area you feel stuck, you have to start somewhere.
