If you use your coffee pot on a regular basis, it’s important that you clean your coffee maker with vinegar on a monthly basis.
Giving your coffee pot a good cleaning will help your coffee taste better and will keep your pot in good working condition.
Over time all the water in your pot leaves behind mineral residue which builds up and may even clog your coffee pot making it harder to produce your coffee.
Also, since your coffee pot holds moisture inside, it could also produce mold. And that is no way to enjoy your morning coffee!
I have a Mr. Coffee coffee maker (affiliate link) that recommends giving a good vinegar cleaning once every month and a quick rinse and wipe down on a daily basis.
Now, let’s be really honest here.
I try to rinse out the coffee pot after each use, but I only wipe it down about once a week.
And I should probably do this deep clean about once a month, but it usually only happens every quarter. So don’t feel bad if you haven’t cleaned your coffee pot out much.
Clean a Coffee Maker with Vinegar
1. Throw away any old coffee grounds and filters.
You want to start out with an empty coffee maker.
2. Add a new filter to the coffee pot.
3. Pour vinegar into the coffee maker reservoir half way.
4. Then add water to the fill line.
5. Turn the coffee maker on and run a regular cycle.
Let the hot water and vinegar solution sit a little while.
When the coffee maker has cooled down enough to the touch, move on to the next step.
6. Wipe away stains and mineral build up.
The interior of the carafe and the interior and exterior of the coffee maker will need to be washed out.
7. Change the filter once more and add only water to the coffee maker.
8. Turn the coffee pot on and run one more cycle of just water.
Throw away the filter and enjoy a cup of coffee from your clean coffee maker!

No. Even though they are both vinegar, they serve different purposes. Apple cider vinegar will not clean your coffee pot.
Use 1 part vinegar to 1 part water one time. That means for an 8 cup pot, you would need 4 cups of vinegar and 4 cups of water.
Only run the vinegar and water mixture one time. After that run a cycle of only water.
