Most of us are spending more time at home, and you may be wondering how to be productive at home. As you go through your day, you probably move from one thing to the next but never really accomplishing anything.
So you get to the end of the day exhausted but wonder where all the time went because you have nothing to show for it.
I used to feel that way too. When you are home all day, it can feel overwhelming because there is so much to do, yet you don’t have a boss looking over your shoulder telling you what to do.
I’ve been at home for the last 7 years, so I’ve learned how to be more productive at home and now I’m going to share my 5 best tips with you!
How to Be Productive at Home:
1. Get ready every morning as soon as possible.
It’s easy to stay in your pajamas or work out clothes when you are at home because you may not have anywhere to go and you probably won’t be seeing a lot of people either.
But you and your family are worth the effort of getting ready every day. Plus you’ll see yourself in the mirror!
Getting dressed early in the morning signals to your mind and body that the day has begun. The clothes you wear also has an effect on your productivity. If you stay in your pajamas, your mind associates relaxing and lounging around. However if you get dressed and even put on shoes, your mind and body will associate the change with time to get things done.
I don’t go all out. But I do put on a top and bottom that make me feel good not frumpy. If you like to wear makeup and do your hair, neither of those have to take long. Just keep it simple but effective.

2. Complete an easy productive task early in the day.
I like to put in a load of laundry as soon as possible each morning. Laundry is one of those things that can easily get out of control if you don’t keep up with it. So doing at least one load a day helps keep laundry from piling up.
If you have a bigger family, you may need to do more than one load. What’s important it just that you make doing laundry a daily habit.
I like to throw my load of laundry in the washing machine as soon as possible in the morning, so that I have time to put it in the dryer in the mid morning and then fold and put it away in the afternoon. Having only one or two loads of laundry to fold and put away is so much easier than folding and putting away multiple loads in one day and I’m much more motivated to do it.

3. Avoid turning on the TV or getting on social media.
It’s easy to waste time watching TV or scrolling through Instagram. But wait to do those things until later in the day after you have accomplished important tasks.
4. Follow a Flexible Schedule.
Following a daily schedule is not a rigid routine. It’s simply a plan for your day, so that you aren’t wasting your time. Instead, you’ll feel like you have more time becuase you are using your time more effectively.
When creating your schedule, start with your anchors. These are the things that happen every single day around the same time like meals, nap times, or school. Then work your other things around those anchors. This will give you time to spend with your kids, get cleaning done, and even have time for yourself!
