If you want a clean house, but don’t want to spend hours a day cleaning, you need a stay at home mom cleaning schedule.

Your family will function better in a clean home and feel better. Of course, I don’t mean a perfectly clean home.

You have kids, so your home is never going to be spotless. However, you can keep up with the surface clutter, dishes, and laundry instead of letting it get out of control.

The key to a clean home is not spending hours cleaning each day because I know you don’t have hours to devote to cleaning when you have little kids. But instead keeping up with a housekeeping schedule.

Why do you need a stay at home mom cleaning schedule?

As a busy stay at home mom you need to keep things simple. That includes how you clean.

A cleaning schedule simplifies your life by putting your cleaning tasks on autopilot. It’s a plan you follow so that you make time for cleaning, but it doesn’t take up your whole day.

You still have time to have fun with your kids, do all of your other stay at home mom responsibilities, and even have time for hobbies!

Following a cleaning schedule also helps you not feel overwhelmed with all of the housework.

Instead of looking at all of your cleaning, you’ll break it up into small, easy to-do tasks. That way you don’t see everything that has to get done all at one time. You’ll only complete a few things each day.

A Simple Stay at Home Mom Cleaning Schedule

Now that you know why a cleaning schedule is helpful, let’s dive into an actual schedule you can keep as a busy stay at home mom.

Daily Cleaning

  • laundry
  • dishes
  • clean up after meals
  • sweep or vacuum
  • general tidy up
  • make beds

Weekly Cleaning

Monthly Cleaning

Example Daily Cleaning Schedule:

Staying on top of the mess shouldn’t take huge chunks of your time. Just a few minutes here and there throughout your daily schedule will add up to a well cared for home.

2 minutes: Start a load of laundry when you wake up.

5 minutes: Put clean dishes away from the night before.

10 minutes: Clean up the kitchen and wipe down the table after breakfast.

1 minute: Throw the load of laundry from the washer into the dryer.

5-20 minutes: Complete a weekly cleaning task.

5 minutes: Clean up the kitchen after lunch: put food away, wash dishes or load dishwasher, wipe down table and counters, sweep the floor.

5 minutes: Have everyone help with a general tidy up around the house.

15 minutes: Clean up the kitchen after dinner. Start the dishwasher.

How to stick with your cleaning schedule

Once you know what to include with your cleaning schedule, the next thing to do is to make sure you’re following it.

1. Write it down.

I keep my cleaning schedule written in my paper planner (affiliate link). That way I know what to do and can easily check them off once I complete them.

2. Follow daily routines.

Most all of my cleaning tasks are completed as part of my daily routines. For example, doing my laundry is part of my morning routine.

Doing the dishes and cleaning up the kitchen is part of my evening routine.

3. Remember your why’s.

Some days, you won’t want to stick to your cleaning schedule. That’s why you’ve got to know why cleaning your home is a priority.

You’re creating a safe, comfortable haven for your loved ones. A place where your kids will grow up in and learn how to love others.

Something that helps me stay motivated to clean is to remember that having a home to clean is a privilege. You don’t have to clean your home. You get to clean your home.
