Fall Home Tour 2016

Welcome to the second most wonderful time of the year! Second only to Christmas. 😉

I’ll be honest it still feels like summer here in Florida. I grew up in Nebraska and Iowa where there is “real fall”. So when I see pumpkins and scarecrows is seems weird to be wearing shorts and t-shirts!

Even though it looks like fall at our house, it feels like summer.

The past few years, I have cut back on the extent of my seasonal decor, and love the simplicity of it. If you blink, you may miss it!

So I’ll share what I used to decorate and where it all came from, but I’ll let the pictures do most of the talking.

As of the end of September, the front door is the only thing that is decorated outside. Sometime in the middle of October we plan to get a pumpkin and probably a mum. If you want to see it, make sure you follow me on Instagram where I will share it.

On the front door I hung my well-loved grapevine wreath* which I have used over and over again. The W was cut from a cereal box and wrapped with twine from Dollar Tree. About half way through wrapping that little booger, I was ready to call it quits! But I stuck with it, and I think it looks pretty good.

The leaves are made from a simple pick that I bought from Hobby Lobby for less than a dollar and a few faux leaves that I purchased from Dollar Tree years ago.

When you walk into our home, one of the first things you see is this empty frame in the entryway. I like to decorate it for the changing seasons. For fall, I simply added a few leaves.

Here is an overview of our dining room. You can see that I didn’t go to crazy in here. The corner shelf has a few pumpkins, fall leaves, and branches from our yard. The chalkboard has a simple leaf garland around it.

 

 

In the living room, I didn’t decorate much. There is an incredibly long shelf above the window in the living room which I usually decorate for the seasons. However I’m planning on taking the shelf down and adding curtains soon. That wall needs some cozying up!

For now, I added some branches from outside along with some fall decor and other random objects. The little flowered bowl is actually part of a measuring cup set* from Pioneer Women’s line at Wal-Mart. I love how it ties all of the fall colors together with my antique blue pitcher.
