How to Get Crayon Off Walls with 1 Ingredient and No Scrubbing!

Sharing is caring!

The other day my 3 year old decided to “decorate” the walls with crayon. So today, I’m sharing my go-to tip on how to get crayon off walls in literally 30 seconds with very little scrubbing.

If you’ve every tried to get crayon off of walls, you know that there are a couple of problems. One, plain soap and water don’t work. Two, excessive scrubbing not only takes the crayon off but also takes the paint off the wall too.

But now you’ll have my handy trick and not have to scrub!

How to Get Crayon off Walls with Goo-Gone:

The secret ingredient is Goo-Gone!

Goo Gone is one of my favorite household products to always keep on hand. I use it to get rid of labels on jars and sticker residue from clothes. But it also works really well getting crayon off of walls.

The best part is that it doesn’t take the paint off the walls either.

So here’s what to do:

  1. Fold a clean rag or paper towel up into a small square.

2. Dampen your rag or paper towel with a little Goo Gone.

3. Rub the rag on the crayon marks until they disappear.

You won’t have to scrub much at all. It will come off pretty quickly and easily.

If you don’t have Goo Gone (affiliate link) or can’t find any at your store, another option that I use from time to time is a magic eraser. I have the store brand from Walmart, and they work just as well as the name brand version. You can even find these at Dollar Tree!

Magic erasers (affiliate link) will take crayon off walls relatively easily. However, because they are somewhat abrasive, they sometimes take a thin layer of paint off as well.

If you rub lightly, you shouldn’t take up too much paint. It will take longer to get the crayon mark off the wall though.

This is another crayon mark on a different wall. I decided to show you how I use the magic eraser on this crayon mark.

How to use a magic eraser to get crayon off walls:

  1. Dampen the magic eraser with a little water and squeeze out the excess water.

2. Lightly scrub the magic eraser on the crayon marks.

If you notice paint coming off the wall too, apply less pressure while scrubbing.

Excuse my dirty thumbnail! I was on a cleaning kick that day. 🙂

Those are my 2 favorite ways to get crayon off of the walls at our house. Both options are simple and work very quickly.

But if you want to get the crayon off and you don’t have Goo-Gone or a magic eraser, here are some other options.
