Deep Clean Bathroom Checklist (Free PDF Printable)

My son has started cleaning the bathroom on a weekly basis and I quickly realized he needed a bathroom cleaning checklist to help him.

I showed him how to clean the bathroom for a few weeks and then let him clean the bathroom by himself. The problem was that he was forgetting some of the steps.

So I made him a detailed checklist. Each time he cleans the bathroom now, he works his way down the checklist. It has worked so well!

His list is pretty basic, but I’ve also found it helpful to have a deep cleaning checklist for myself. That way I don’t forget some things.

So if you are wanting a complete list for cleaning your bathroom too, then here you go.

Weekly Bathroom Cleaning Checklist

This is a very detailed checklist. I had to be very specific for my son. However, at the end of the list I’ll share a quick 5 step checklist.

This type of cleaning could be done once a month or every other week.

  1. Remove any trash or items that don’t belong in the bathroom.
  2. Squirt toilet cleaner under the rim of the toilet and let it sit while you clean the mirror and countertop.
  3. Wipe down the mirror.
  4. Clear the countertop off and spray the countertop, sink, and faucet with cleaning spray.
  5. Wipe down the countertop, sink, and faucet with a sponge. Be sure to wipe up all grime and toothpaste.
  6. Dry and buff the faucet with a dry rag.
  7. Wipe down the outside of the bathroom cabinet doors and drawers.
  8. Use a toilet brush to scrub the inside of the toilet bowl.
  9. Spray the outside of the toilet with an all purpose cleaning spray from the top to the bottom.
  10. Wipe down the toilet with a clean rag from the top to the bottom. Be sure to get all the nooks and crannies in the toilet seat and around the bottom of the toilet by the floor.
  11. Spray the walls of the shower with cleaning spray. Sprinkle or spray cleaner on the bottom of the bathtub.
  12. Use a scrub sponge to scrub the shower walls and bathtub.
  13. Rinse the walls and tub with water. Wipe down with a dry, clean rag.
  14. Remove dirty towels and put them in the wash.
  15. Sweep the floor.
  16. Empty the trash can and replace it with a new bag.
  17. Sweep the floor.
  18. Add clean towels.
  19. Mop the floor.

Quick Clean

You can do a quick clean of the bathroom once a week to maintain a mostly clean bathroom.

Another time I like to do a quick clean is before guests arrive and I don’t have much time.

  1. Clean the mirror.
  2. Clean the sink and counter.
  3. Scrub the toilet.
  4. Scrub the tub and shower.
  5. Sweep and mop the floor.

Deep Cleaning Checklist

These cleaning tasks only need to be done once a month or less. It really depends how often your bathroom gets used and how dirty it gets.

I only have to declutter our cabinets once or twice a year. However, I wash our rug much more regularly.

  • Declutter the bathroom cabinets and drawers.
  • Shake out the rug or throw it in the wash.
  • Remove items in the cupboards and wipe down the bottom of the cupboards.
  • Deep scrub the tub tiles.
  • Dust and wipe down the air vents.
  • Wipe down the walls and light switch.
  • Clean in the corners where dirt has collected.
