Have you been feeling stuck lately — overwhelmed by the clutter, the unplanned dinners, the routines that just won’t stick? This one’s for you.
We’ve all been there. You can see exactly where you want to be — a more organized home, calmer mornings, meals that are actually planned — but no matter how hard you try, you just can’t seem to get there.
If that’s you right now, I want you to know two things:
You are not alone. And God has something good on the other side of this.
Today I want to share one thing NOT to do when you feel stuck, and then two practical, biblical things you can do to start moving forward.
The One Thing NOT To Do: Don’t Give Up
I know. That sounds simple. But this is actually the hardest one.
When we feel overwhelmed, the laundry pile is still there, and dinner still isn’t planned; quitting starts to sound like the best option.
But I love this quote from Michael Hyatt:
“Most people give up before it gets good. Don’t be like most people.”
I can look back at my own life and see the exact moments I almost walked away. From nursing my babies when it was so hard in those early weeks.
From this blog in the early days when nothing seemed to be working.
From seasons of marriage that were just plain hard.
Every single time I held on, and it eventually got good.
And the Bible speaks directly to this:
“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” — Galatians 6:9 (NIV)
A harvest is coming, but only if we do not give up. That’s not just motivational language. That’s a promise from God.
So whatever feels impossible in your home right now, hold on. Your harvest is coming.
What TO Do #1: Visualize the Bloom
When you feel stuck, the first thing I want you to do is picture what life will look and feel like on the other side.
When we moved into our house, there was a plant on the side of the yard that looked absolutely terrible.
I was sure it was a weed and almost pulled the whole thing out.
But someone in a Facebook group said, “It’s a hibiscus. Just wait. It’ll be beautiful.”
Sure enough, a few weeks later, these enormous, gorgeous blooms appeared.
I almost pulled it up before it had a chance to bloom.
Sometimes that’s exactly what we do with our homes and our lives. We see the mess, the chaos, the “not yet”, and we give up before the bloom.
Think about the one area of your home that’s making you feel the most stuck. Maybe it’s the closet you dread opening. Maybe it’s the dinner hour that turns into chaos every night.
Picture what it would feel like to walk past that closet and it’s calm and organized. Picture sitting down to dinner with your family, a meal on the table, everyone together.
What TO Do #2: Just Get Moving
The second thing I want you to do is stop looking at the mountain and just take the next step.
One of the biggest reasons we stay stuck is because we’re trying to tackle everything at once.
We see the whole messy house and think “I have to fix ALL of this,” and it’s so overwhelming. Instead of doing anything, we sit down on the couch and scroll our phones.
I’ve been there. More times than I’d like to admit.
But here’s the truth: you don’t have to do it all today. You just have to do something today.
I love how God handled this very thing in Exodus 14. The Israelites are standing at the edge of the Red Sea. Pharaoh’s army is behind them. They’re panicking.
Moses is crying out to God, and do you know what God says back?
“Why are you crying out to me? Tell the people to get moving! Pick up your staff and raise your hand over the sea. Divide the water so the Israelites can walk through the middle of the sea on dry ground… My great glory will be displayed… all Egypt will see my glory and know that I am the LORD!” — Exodus 14:15-18 (NLT)
God essentially says: stop crying, stop waiting — MOVE.
And here’s the beautiful part — the sea didn’t part before they moved. It parted as they moved. God was glorified through their obedience in motion.
Sometimes that’s all God is asking of you. Just move.
One faithful step in the right direction.
Let’s Bring It Together
When you feel stuck as a homemaker:
- Don’t give up — your harvest is coming if you hold on.
- Visualize the bloom — let the vision of where you’re going pull you forward.
- Just get moving — take one small, faithful step today and let God be glorified.
And I’ll leave you with this promise:
“He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” — Philippians 1:6 (NIV)
He started something in you, in your home, and in your family. And He is faithful to finish it. You are not on your own in this.
